Exhibition at the Astrakhan Museum of Culture
About exhibition
The museum presents the musical, theatrical and book culture of the region from the 18th to the 20th centuries and holds materials about prominent figures whose life paths crossed with Astrakhan: V. Trediakovsky, N. Chernyshevsky, N. Papayan, F. Chaliapin, M. Maksakova, V. Barsova. Visitors can see the interiors of a writer's study and a music salon with authentic 19th-century items—furniture, paintings, documents, photographs, household utensils—as well as theatrical sketches and models. On the museum's second floor, in two small rooms, there is an exhibition called “Photographer's Studio” for Astrakhan residents and city visitors. One room recreates the old reception interior of a photographer’s studio from the late 19th to early 20th century. The second room is arranged as a “svetopis” salon (the old term for the process of photography), where a provincial photographer's studio has been recreated. Reduced-price tickets are issued upon presentation of documents at the museum ticket office.
