The museum's exhibition tells of the feats of Astrakhan residents on the front lines and the home front. The display features original museum objects: documents and personal belongings of participants, supplemented by works of fine art, sculptures, models and mock-ups, and examples of small arms and military equipment from the period of the Great Patriotic War (World War II) and the modern era. For the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the exhibition "Sons Loyal to the Motherland" (Hall 8) was created, which tells of Astrakhan residents' participation in various hot spots and conflicts. In 2009, for the 20th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, the exhibition "The Afghan War and Astrakhan's Participation in It" was opened.
