Exhibition at the P. P. Bazhov Memorial House-Museum
About exhibition
The museum is located in the house that legendary Ural writer Pavel Bazhov built for his family — the author of the famous collection of Ural tales "The Malachite Casket." The writer began building the house on Arkhiyereyskaya Street (now Chapaeva Street) in 1911 after marrying Valentina Ivanitskaya. In 1914 the Bazhov family moved into the new one-story four-room house and lived there (with short interruptions during the Civil War) until 1968. In 1969 — 19 years after Pavel Bazhov's death — a memorial exhibition was opened to visitors in his house. The house contains several memorial rooms preserved with authentic furnishings from the writer's lifetime: a dining room, study, bedroom, and children's room. Visitors can see household items and artifacts from the writer's creative life: from rare editions of his books to the small writing desk at which Pavel Bazhov created his famous tales. Advance booking to visit the permanent exhibition is by phone: +7 (343) 257-06-92.
