Exhibition 'Each Town in Its Own Costume'
About exhibition
In the pre-New Year period the museum displays a collection of porcelain dolls titled 'Each Town in Its Own Costume.' The collection is presented by the Khislavichi District Local History Museum. It introduces the features of women's dress in the Russian governorates of the 16th–19th centuries. Visitors can see dolls in the national costumes of the peoples of Kalmykia, Bashkortostan, Buryatia, Uzbekistan, and Karachay-Cherkessia. The exhibition also widely features dolls in the traditional costumes of the Russian population, which have local characteristics specific to their regions: the Pskov, Moscow, Kostroma, Arkhangelsk, Voronezh, Vologda, Smolensk, and Ryazan governorates. Each doll is accompanied by a printed publication with rich illustrative material and explanatory text.
