Exhibition 'The Stanitsa Ataman's Estate'
About exhibition
Visitors to the exhibition can see the farm buildings of the stanitsa ataman's estate, which are typical examples of Russian building tradition: in the front open yard, arranged around the perimeter, are the residential house, barns, a wagon-shed (zavoznya), and a covered shed. One of the barns was used to store grain, and the other contained a cellar. The wagon-shed and the covered shed were intended for storing carts, sledges, harnesses, farming implements, and fishing gear. The buildings were moved from the village of Khalzanovo in the Pribaikalsky District of Buryatia and date from the 19th century. The livestock yard comprises a stable and quarters for sheep and cattle. Also located here is a covered threshing floor (humno) — a platform for threshing grain. In the kitchen garden there were cold frames for seedlings and a well under a gabled roof with a gate on chains.
