Exhibition “Ural Izba”

About exhibition

On the tour, students will learn about the layout of a Russian izba, household utensils, and folk traditions and rituals. Museum guides will share many interesting facts about the old way of life and the trades and crafts of their ancestors. Visitors will be able to see unique exhibits related to traditional Russian domestic life and learn what a tues (birch-bark container), ukhvat (iron pot-lifter), luchina (wooden splinter used for lighting), korchaga (earthenware jug), samovar and other household items used in an izba are.
