Ukrainian Embroidery Exhibition
About exhibition
The exhibition presents artistic textiles made by migrants from Ukraine from the 19th–20th centuries from the collections of the Crimean Ethnographic Museum. The entire process of traditional home-based cloth production and its transformation into finished items is shown. Various household items were decorated with hand embroidery — clothing, tablecloths, curtains, and napkins. One characteristic feature of Ukrainian embroidery is a pronounced regional distinctiveness. The exhibition features items embroidered in the traditional techniques and styles of different regions of Ukraine. In addition, one of the exhibition halls is dedicated to the work of Vera Sergeyevna Roik (1911–2010) — an Honored Master of Ukrainian Folk Art and a laureate of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea prize, who, thanks to her outstanding organizational abilities, talent as a teacher, and artistic skill, is recognized as the founder of the school of Ukrainian folk embroidery in Crimea.
