Exhibition 'County Town'
About exhibition
The Museum of Folk Culture is now located in the city center, in a unique building — an architectural monument from the late 19th century. At the beginning of the last century, one of the first cinemas, 'Orion', stood on this site; it hosted film screenings, gymnasium balls, and charity evenings. The history of the building is directly linked to the history of the city's main street, which just over a hundred years ago housed three cinemas, the largest printing house in the city, hotel rooms, the city administration, a bank, three churches, and numerous commercial and public establishments. The new museum exhibition will allow visitors to experience one of Belgorod's streets at the beginning of the 20th century — that of a county (uyezd) town in the Kursk Governorate — learn about the everyday life and occupations of its townspeople, step into a merchant's shop, a milliner's workshop, and a photographic studio, and see authentic household items and the unique interiors of an old house.
