Exhibition 'War Has (Not) a Woman's Face'
About exhibition
The exhibition project is devoted to female on-screen portrayals in films about the Great Patriotic War. Above all, the curators chose to focus on home-front heroines: mothers and wives waiting for Soviet soldiers to return from the front, leading production workers who spent dozens of hours at the machines, and actresses who continued to perform in theatre and cinema. These stories—sometimes no less dramatic than the fates of front-line soldiers—are much less often told. But cinema is full of such plots and images that have remained in audiences' memories. Photographs from film shoots, movie posters, period costumes and a recreated setting will help reveal these stories.
