Exhibition "Three Maidens by the Window Spun Late in the Evening"
About exhibition
The exhibition features a collection of antique carved and painted spinning wheels, a working self-acting spinning wheel, and spindles from both the early 20th century and the Soviet period. On the spinning wheel there is flax tow made of linen fibers; a thread has been spun from the tow and wound onto the spindle. Next to the floor-standing spinning wheels is a wooden hackle (flax comb) used in flax processing. The display includes flax seeds and dried flax plants, handwoven and factory-made linen fabrics from various periods, embroidered linen rushnyky (ritual towels) from the early 20th century, and a wooden fulling paddle and rolling pin used to roll and press linen cloth. Interactive guided tours are offered by appointment, tel. 8-496-513-20-68, 8-496-513-05-75.
