Exhibition "The Mystery in Her Eyes"
About exhibition
The exhibition includes paintings, works on paper and decorative and applied arts from the museum's collection, as well as costumes from the collection of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Udmurt Republic named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. The female portrait is one of the most popular and expressive genres in Russian and Soviet art. Over more than two centuries it underwent significant changes, reflecting not only shifts in artistic styles and movements but also the evolution of ideas about women and their role in society. The female portrait served as a kind of mirror reflecting changing notions of the ideal of beauty and the woman's inner world: from the delicate lyricism and romantic charm of the late 18th – early 19th centuries to the stern, determined faces of Soviet female workers of the 20th century, who became symbols of faith in the new society.
