Exhibition "Witnesses of Battle and Glory"
About exhibition
The exhibition is dedicated to the work of the search squads "Uran" and "Volga" from the Volgograd region, who fulfill their duty by burying and commemorating fallen Red Army soldiers. Displayed are items bearing bullet and shrapnel damage from the decisive fields of the Battle of Stalingrad, as well as methods for tracing the names of the missing in action; signed personal effects that were with soldiers at the moment of their death are shown, and their last letters to relatives will be read. The exhibition presents death medallions and dog tags of the Soviet armed forces and the enemy army, mess tins, cups, and flasks inscribed by Red Army soldiers, which many years later helped identify numerous heroes during search operations. Visitors' attention will be drawn to rare and unusual types of weapons and branches of service, such as chemical protection troops, ampulomet operators, and flamethrower crews, who defeated the enemy directly with fire. You can handle an empty ampulomet capsule, a tank fire extinguisher, and today-safe empty casings of fragmentation and incendiary bombs. The items help shed light on previously unknown fates and restore from oblivion many names of our heroic ancestors who, in the last century, destroyed the world's most technologically advanced aggressor army.
