Exhibition "The Old Tula Pharmacy"

About exhibition

Belyavsky's Old Tula Pharmacy was famous for the splendor of its interior and the quality of its service; it was compared to the best pharmacy in Moscow. It operated from 1884 until 2011. In 2012 the building was transferred to the museum. Two years later, a permanent exhibition "The Old Tula Pharmacy" was opened on the ground floor. Here you can get acquainted with the apothecary atmosphere of the 19th century and discover the secrets of pharmacy. The exhibition features medical instruments from the late 19th – early 20th centuries, apothecary vessels and devices for preparing medicines, as well as packaging for cosmetics, medicines, baby food, colonial goods and other pharmacy items of the period. The display is complemented by photographs of the family of the first owners of the Old Tula Pharmacy and an exhibition of photographic equipment and accessories from the late 19th – early 20th centuries from a private collection.
