Exhibition "Contemporary Art of the 20th Century: Artists of the Vladimir Region"
About exhibition
Visitors will be able to admire works by well-known masters from different periods and movements: from Impressionism (K. Korovin, S. Gerasimov and K. Gorbatov) to Cubism (N. Grigoriev) of the early 20th century, feel the energy of works from the first decades of Soviet rule (A. Deineka, K. Redko, even K. Yuon), and sense the anxiety of the wartime years in canvases created during the Great Patriotic War. Soviet sculptors, working in various materials (stone, metal, wood, porcelain), created compositions and images of figures from national culture: L. Tolstoy, the poet S. Gorodetsky, folklorist A. Afanasyev and storyteller S. Pisakhov. Separate halls tell the story of the extraordinary artists of the Vladimir region, including graphic artists (B. Frantsuzov, V. Basmanov, P. Dik) and painters of the Vladimir school of landscape painting (V. Yukin, K. Britov, V. Kokurin), which became a phenomenon in the history of modern art.
