Exhibition "Treasures of Ancient Murom"
About exhibition
The exhibition "Treasures of Ancient Murom" presents the history of the "ideal" town of Murom, filled with bylinas, tales, legends, and real events that took place on Murom land in the distant pre-Petrine era. The main figures are the baptizers of Murom — the holy princes Konstantin, Mikhail and Fedor; the patrons of happy marriage Peter and Fevronia; the righteous Uliania Lazarevskaya; as well as townspeople who funded and built churches and monasteries, and characters from local stories. The exhibition offers a presentation of unique and most valuable examples of Old Russian art reflecting the distinctiveness of medieval Murom culture. On display are archaeological items, icons, liturgical embroidery, books, copper metalwork and silver from Murom churches. Hard-of-hearing visitors can use an audio guide for the exhibition equipped with an induction loop. A free multimedia guide for smartphones on the Artefact platform is available at the exhibition. Opening hours may vary on public holidays; for current information please check the "News" section on the website.
