The first section presents the creative and biographical connections between Paustovsky and well-known writers of the younger generation, his pupils Yuri Kazakov, Bulat Okudzhava, Boris Balter, and Daniil Granin; the second covers his ties with writers of the older generation who influenced his choice of artistic path: Anton Chekhov, Ivan Bunin, Alexander Blok, and Alexander Grin. The third section discusses Paustovsky's creative and biographical connections with famous contemporary writers. Paustovsky's relationships with outstanding figures of 20th-century national literature were not only professional but also friendly. Among his friends were Arkady Gaidar, Boris Pasternak, Korney Chukovsky, Veniamin Kaverin, and Ruvim Frayerman.
