Exhibition "Sculpture of the 20th–21st Centuries"
About exhibition
In January 2014, the project "The Language of Art in Braille" was launched at the Murmansk Regional Art Museum. The museum's sculpture collection is small — it comprises 57 works. The exhibition presents 18 exhibits. Why choose sculpture specifically? People with visual impairments perceive the surrounding world through a unity of tactile, motor, and auditory impressions. Blind people are more attentive to detail; through material they experience emotions. The three-dimensional form of sculptural works can be explored by touch; by touching one can become acquainted with various materials — wood, bronze, clay, marble, granite. All this helps create a complete and vivid sensory image of a museum object. The exhibition will be of interest to all categories of visitors.
