Exhibition «Simonovka — the Heart of the Industrial City»
About exhibition
The exhibition is dedicated to the industrial history of the district built around the main enterprise, the Likhachev Plant (ZIL), with all the infrastructure necessary for work, the organization of a new everyday life and leisure, forming a distinct urban mechanism. By the end of the first five-year plan, industrialization was in full swing: numerous factories were being modernized and expanded, and Moscow's population began to grow rapidly. All this led to the creation of many temporary and uncomfortable dwellings; the theory of communalization of everyday life, put forward by architects and sociologists, became relevant. The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to examine how the new way of life was organized in the industrial era and to find its echoes in the present. A significant part of the display is devoted to the history of the plant and will include photographs, archival documents, and scale models of the most famous cars produced at the factory at different times.
