Exhibition 'Sergei Eisenstein. The Infinite Man'
About exhibition
A joint project of ROSIZO and the Museum of Cinema devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the work of the outstanding Soviet director, innovator and film theorist whose films Battleship Potemkin, Strike, Alexander Nevsky and Ivan the Terrible forever changed the language of world cinema. For the first time, Sergei Eisenstein's theatrical sketches executed in a Cubist manner will be juxtaposed with original paintings by Pablo Picasso, and the iconic film images from Ivan the Terrible will be compared with a series of etchings by Francisco Goya. Rare graphic works, film and photographic materials, and paintings presented at the exhibition will create the necessary historical and artistic context. Visitors will see avant-garde installations reflecting the artist's inner world and recreating the very 'montage of attractions' — the artistic method of affecting the viewer. A documentary film shown as part of the exhibition about Sergei Eisenstein's role in world cinema, filmed in the format of interviews with prominent film scholars, also deserves special attention.
