Exhibition 'Seven "Wonders" of Light'
About exhibition
It is hard to overestimate the importance of light for humans and all living things. Without it, life on Earth would be impossible. The exhibition shows how people's understanding of optical phenomena has evolved from ancient times to the present and how light was perceived in different cultures. Visitors will learn about optical instruments used to observe the stars, to create paintings, and to capture the first frames of early cinema, and they will also learn about the characteristics of human vision and of some animals. The unique exhibits created at the interactive science museum 'Quarks' are designed for tactile interaction with visitors and are intended to inspire wonder and interest. The exhibits showcase both historical optical technologies and new technologies that open up possibilities for the development of contemporary visual art. The visit program includes an interactive tour and a workshop on making a zoetrope - a 19th-century optical toy. The program is suitable for children aged 12 and up and for adults.
