The exhibition presents the main stages in the development of Russian and foreign visual art. Moving from room to room on the first floor of the Tambov Gallery, visitors embark on an engaging journey through the history of Old Russian culture, encounter 18th-century family portraits, learn about the founding of the Academy of Arts and the Peredvizhniki (Society for Traveling Art Exhibitions), the paths of Russian art at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries, and the lives and works of well-known Russian artists. In the Western European art halls visitors will see paintings by Dutch, French, German, and Italian masters of the 16th–19th centuries.
