Exhibition 'Masterpieces of Russian Art from the 11th to the early 20th century'

About exhibition

In the historic building that housed the collection of the gallery's founder Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov (from 1856), visitors can see the museum's permanent exhibition, consisting of more than 1,300 works of Russian art from the 11th to the early 20th century — from pre‑Mongol icons and mosaics to landscape, portrait and historical painting, including world‑renowned masterpieces such as 'The Savior Not Made by Hands' (a 12th‑century Novgorod icon) and Alexander Ivanov's 'The Appearance of Christ to the People'. The diverse works of great artists such as Vasily Ivanovich Surikov, Vasily Vasilievich Vereshchagin, Ilya Yefimovich Repin, Valentin Alexandrovich Serov and others are prominently represented.
