Exhibition «Masterpieces of Islamic Art from the Collection of the Museum of the East»
About exhibition
About 70 outstanding works of Islamic art dating from the 10th–19th centuries from the collection of the State Museum of the East will be on display. These include ceramics, artistic metalwork, stone, textiles, manuscripts, and objects of decorative and applied arts from Central Asia, Iran, Turkey, the Caucasus, India, and Russia. Special emphasis is planned on the Islamic art of the country's regions, primarily the Volga region, Crimea, and Dagestan. The items will help visitors answer the question of the characteristic features of Islamic art, consider how sometimes peculiar the combinations of ancient national traditions and religious ideas can be, and how Islamic aesthetics influence the ethnography and artistic life of various peoples.
