Exhibition "Masterpieces of the Art Collection"
About exhibition
The works presented in the permanent exhibition "Masterpieces of the Art Collection" constitute the golden fund of the art collection of the Tyumen Museum and Educational Association. More than 250 works of painting, graphic art, decorative and applied arts, and sculpture from the museum's holdings are arranged into major thematic sections: "Russian Art of the 18th – early 20th century", "Domestic (20th-century) Art", and "Western European Art of the 16th – early 20th century". The museum's collection of Russian classical painting from the 18th to the early 20th century is one of the finest in the Ural–Siberian region. Original paintings by outstanding Russian artists are on display: V. Borovikovsky, I. Aivazovsky, V. Tropinin, A. Savrasov, I. Shishkin, V. Polenov, I. Repin, B. Kustodiev, and V. Kandinsky. Domestic 20th-century art showcases the work of People's Artists and academicians. The Western European art collection is small in number but significant in importance, featuring examples of Italian and Dutch art, French landscape painting, genre works by German painters, and religious-themed paintings by Spanish artists. The exhibition is complemented by tactile copies of works representing the main painting genres. The copies were produced as part of the "A Special View" program of the charitable foundation "Art, Science and Sport" with the support of ICOM Russia.
