Exhibition 'The Poet's Garden'
About exhibition
The work of Vladimir Smirnov is one of the unique phenomena of artistic culture of which Kostroma can rightly be proud. He is the creator of a gallery of images called 'The Poet's Garden'. The inhabitants of the Poet's Garden are outstanding literary figures—among them N. Gogol, A. Akhmatova, A. Pushkin; Kostroma artists N. Shuvalov, N. Pshizov, V. Katkov; female figures in whose faces one can discern traits of the artist's life companion and muse N. Klyaritskaya; symbolic characters wearing kolpaks and kokoshniks; and fantastic heroes of some new civilization. The exhibition includes about 20 sculptures in plaster and bronze. Each is a vivid, piercing story about a personality, a page in the creator's artistic biography, the fruit of intense work of the spirit and feelings of a man who keenly sensed the nerve of the times and the drama of existence.
