Exhibition "Gun and Fish-Spear — A Help in the Household"
About exhibition
The exhibition tells about the traditional ancient occupations of the Komi-Permyaks — hunting and fishing. It features authentic exhibits of hunting and fishing implements, animal pelts, and photographs of hunters, huts and storerooms. Komi-Permyaks usually hunted alone or in hunting parties. In the hunting grounds a temporary camp was established consisting of a hut, a raised storeroom on posts, and a nod'ya fire. Equipment and game were transported on hand sleds. Hunting was carried out using the bow, the forked spear, steel traps, snares, nooses, ploshki (flat wooden traps), and, to a lesser extent, firearms. Among the fishing implements widely used were gillnets, seines and trap nets woven from hemp twine.
