Exhibition 'Russian Art'
About exhibition
The basis of the comparatively small collection consists of works transferred from the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery and the MROKM named after I. D. Voronin. It was subsequently supplemented through the collecting activities of museum staff and donations from private individuals. Orthodox iconography is mainly represented by works from the late period of its evolution (late 18th - early 20th centuries). The collection of painted portraits by 18th-century masters, attributed to the so-called authors of the second circle, is small. The art of the second half of the 19th century is reflected in works by artists of the academic tradition and late Peredvizhniki (the Itinerants): S. Gribkov, K. Makovsky, V. Yakobi. Landscape painting of this period is represented by canvases by I. Shishkin, I. Aivazovsky, A. Savrasov, L. Lagorio, A. Bogolyubov, N. Dubovsky, N. Khokhryakov, while portraiture is represented in works by A. Korzukhin, N. Koshelev, K. Makovsky. For more details on each section of the exhibition, see the Erzia Museum website.
