Exhibition 'The Romance of Tomsk's Communal Apartments'
About exhibition
The exhibition is dedicated to the lives of Tomsk residents in communal apartments; here you can learn about everyday life and daily routines. Do you remember queuing for the shared bathroom, cardboard partitions instead of walls and kitchen quarrels, milk in little triangular cartons and the scent of the perfume 'Krasnaya Moskva'? Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the communal atmosphere that left a vivid mark on the lives of many Soviet people. The exhibition space is divided into zones: an entrance hall, a shared corridor, a kitchen and two rooms. In the entrance hall, items belonging to the 'residents of the communal apartment' are displayed on coat racks to introduce visitors to the inhabitants (outerwear, footwear, etc.). Further on, visitors can peek into the rooms where a family with a small child 'lives', and behind the wall — a young schoolteacher. Everyone can step into the Soviet past by visiting this engaging exhibition. Admission is free for participants of the SVO and their family members.
