Exhibition 'Drawing Archaeology'
About exhibition
At the 'Drawing Archaeology' exhibition original drawings of finds obtained during archaeological expeditions by the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University, the State Historical Museum, the Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve, and Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University are on display. The objects represent all periods of human history — each with its own designation. The Stone Age is denoted by gray matting, the Bronze Age by green, Antiquity and the Early Iron Age by pink, the Migration Period by blue, and the Middle Ages by yellow. The works are grouped by the materials from which the 'portrayed' objects were made: stone, bone, clay, metal, and wood. The exhibition includes items from the collection of the Polytechnic Museum, among them a svetets (a small lamp), a Slavic helmet, and an axe lock.
