Exhibition 'René Magritte. The Treachery of Images'
About exhibition
The exhibition will present 50 lithographs by the Belgian master, gathered from private collections in France, Belgium and Scandinavia. It is an almost complete collection of all the print series created from the artist's originals and published with the support of the René Magritte Foundation. Each of the lithographs on display recreates Magritte's world of illusions, where objects lose their usual properties: stones float in the air, day turns into night in an instant, and eyes reflect not the soul but the endless sky. The exhibition will allow visitors to experience the legacy of a master whose works are not held in Russian museum collections. It is a rare opportunity to see works that shaped the language of Surrealism and became symbols of 20th-century artistic thought.
