Exhibition 'Journey into the World of Dolls'
About exhibition
A new exhibition, 'Journey into the World of Dolls', will open at the Tenishev Center. It is a unique project by collector and art historian Marta Tsifrinovich, dedicated to the history of the doll. The exhibition invites visitors on an enchanting journey through eras and countries — from traditional protective folk dolls to antique 19th-century porcelain beauties and contemporary artist-made masterpieces. Each exhibit is a living story, bearing the imprint of time, human emotions, and creative inspiration. Visitors will learn: - why porcelain was called 'white gold'; - how dolls with moving eyes and jointed bodies were made; - what a three-faced doll is; - how the outfits of miniature fashion dolls reflected the fashions of their time. A separate section is dedicated to Marta Tsifrinovich's personal collection. Her holdings include antique pieces, theatrical characters, Soviet-era toys, and contemporary original works. 'A doll is a witness of its time,' says Marta Tsifrinovich. 'It lived beside people, absorbing their joys, cares, and dreams. Each doll preserves a piece of human history.' At the 'Journey into the World of Dolls' exhibition, you can see how the doll evolved from a simple toy into a work of art — and perhaps remember your first doll, with which your childhood began.
