Exhibition "Path to Victory. Different Fates of a Single War"
About exhibition
The materials, presented in chronological order, recount the invasion of Novgorod Oblast by the armed forces of Nazi Germany; the defensive battles near Novgorod in August 1941; the organization of the partisan movement; the hardships of the occupation regime; and the major combat operations of the Volkhov Front aimed at breaking the siege of Leningrad and liberating Novgorod. The exhibition reveals, behind the large-scale military actions, the fates of ordinary people whose lives were suddenly upended by the war. The core of the exposition consists of examples of weapons and uniforms, battle banners, awards, and the personal effects of war participants. The exhibition features more than two hundred rare items, including relics that belonged to celebrated Soviet commanders — K. A. Meretskov, A. F. Khrenov, I. T. Korovnikov, T. A. Sviklin, and partisan brigade leader I. I. Sergunin.
