Exhibition 'About the Lion Who Became a Writer...'
About exhibition
The full title of the exhibition, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the Perm children's writer Lev Davydychev, is 'About the Lion Who Became a Writer, a second-grader who began thinking about his pension, a kind and responsible girl who reformed a bully, a spy who changed his mind about spying, a green tiger who could never be caught, and other characters impossible to list because there are so many of them.' Lev Davydychev's novellas and novels have become classics of children's literature and are beloved by readers across generations. The stories about the failing student Ivan Semenov, the exemplary Lelishna and the kids from Nizhnie Petukhi are familiar to everyone, since they are rooted in the childhood sensibilities of the author himself. Lev Ivanovich was able to create a noisy, hectic world in which his characters play and learn, make friends and quarrel, and also grow up and make choices. The exhibition's curators explore the world of childhood and examine situations that everyone faces regardless of age: choices, fear, affection, difficulties in relationships with adults and peers, etc. The exhibition features editions of Lev Davydychev's works and iconic objects from the 1950s–1980s from the collections of the Perm Regional Museum. The exhibition is designed to be experienced as a 'game – test – quest'. This format will allow adult museum visitors to recall Lev Davydychev's notable works, while young guests of the Children's Museum Center will get to meet the characters from his books. Therefore, the exhibition will be of interest to both adults and children.
