Exhibition 'Natural and Ethnographic Complex'
About exhibition
The Natural and Ethnographic Complex is located in the old Khanty village of Gornoknyazevsk on a historically significant site — the land of the descendants of the Khanty princes Taishin. The complex was founded in 2001 and is intended to preserve the history and traditions of the peoples of the North. It consists of a camp of ten chums — the mobile traditional dwellings of northern peoples — and traditional wooden buildings, including a small exhibition of Prince Taishin's izba and means of transport — narts. In addition, the complex permanently exhibits a collection of ethnographic materials: items of nomadic and settled daily life, tools and implements of trades. All this creates the atmosphere of being at a real camp. The Natural and Ethnographic Complex can rightfully be called the pearl of Yamal, a place to become acquainted with folk traditions and crafts. Here you can see and learn about the full diversity of the culture and historical identity of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North.
