Exhibition "Nature of the Vyatka Region"
About exhibition
The exhibition introduces the present as well as the geological and paleontological past of the region. Three-dimensional dioramas recreate the region's natural complexes with the animals and birds that inhabit them and the trees, grasses, fungi, mosses and lichens that grow there. Alongside specimens acquired a few years ago, visitors can also see items that have been in the museum for a hundred years or more. Among them is the stuffed head of a wild boar that entered the museum in 1902. A unique object is the skeleton of an ancient short-horned bison — a paleontological monument of federal significance. Complementing the natural theme is the "Minerals and Rocks" exhibition, which displays rare specimens from the collection of the museum's founder P. V. Alabin, gifted by Emperor Alexander II. The "Living Nature" hall offers the opportunity to learn about the natural diversity not only of Kirov Oblast but also to observe exotic animals from various parts of the world.
