Exhibition 'Nature. History. Art'

About exhibition

You can walk through all the museum's halls and explore the permanent collection and the current thematic exhibition. In the Department of Nature you will be transported into the remarkable world of wildlife, see the animals and birds of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and the largest exhibit — a moose — will be remembered by both adults and children. The Department of Nature is preceded by an archaeology display. The Neolithic era is clearly represented here — the Balakhna and Volosovo cultures. The Bronze and Iron Ages and the period of the region's settlement by the Slavs are illustrated by items from archaeological expeditions carried out by the museum's staff between 1940 and 1958. The first part of the historical exhibition tells the prehistory of Dzerzhinsk from the first Slavic settlements in the area to the beginning of the 20th century, highlights important historical events, and introduces the everyday life and crafts of the ancestors. The second part of the historical exhibition tells the story of the city from the start of its construction to the 1960s and consists of the following sections: 'From Rastyapin to Dzerzhinsk'; 'Dzerzhinsk. 1930s'; 'Dzerzhinsk. The Great Patriotic War (World War II)'; 'Dzerzhinsk. 1950s-1960s'. The exhibition is arranged using modern museum technologies that expand its space, add variety and create a special emotional atmosphere. In the Exhibition Gallery various shows are held every month: from the museum's collections and private collections, as well as solo and group art exhibitions.
