Exhibition "Invitation to Dinner"
About exhibition
Russian hospitality has long been one of the symbols of the nation's culture. The variety of domestic and culinary traditions did not escape the attention of Russian artists of different eras, styles, and movements. The exhibition invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Russia's history through the prism of subjects related to food and feasting: from works of Russian art of the 19th century to pieces created by contemporary masters of the early 21st century. The extensive collection of the State Russian Museum is represented by 44 works of painting, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. As is customary, the exhibition space is supplemented with exhibits from the holdings of the Republican Museum of Fine Arts and installations illustrating the hospitality traditions of various social classes in Russian history.
