Exhibition «The Nation's Heroic Deed»
About exhibition
The N.M. Martyanov Museum presents an exhibition project dedicated to participants of the Great Patriotic War of various nationalities who were born in Minusinsk or were conscripted by the Minusinsk district military enlistment office. Unity and the friendship of all the peoples living on its territory were important distinguishing features of the Soviet Union. From the first days of the war, people of different nationalities rallied together in the fight against fascism. Representatives of virtually all the peoples of the USSR fought in the ranks of the Red Army. Thousands of Minusinsk residents became renowned during the Great Patriotic War. Siberians fought near Moscow, at Stalingrad, on the Steppe Front, and on the Kursk salient. They took part in the liberation of Belarus, Ukraine, and Lithuania, and fought in Poland and East Prussia. Streets, squares, and schools in the city have been named after Minusinsk's heroes. Visitors will learn about the biographies of front-line soldiers from the Minusinsk district—Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Poles, Latvians, Jews—and discover their combat service, heroism, and awards. The core of the panel exhibition consists of photographs and documents from the collections of the Martyanov Museum and the archive of the city of Minusinsk.
