Exhibition 'Under the Cover of Love'
About exhibition
The key theme of the exhibition project is the image of the woman on the home front: a mother waiting for her sons to return from the front, a worker, an actress in front-line troupes. The space is divided into several zones. In the first, visitors are greeted by the furnishings of a village house distorted by war: an empty dining table surrounded by the wreckage of former life. Other zones are devoted to urban heroines and, separately, to actresses. Such varied images are revealed through costume and set sketches, posters, and stills from the filming of films such as 'Twenty Days Without War' (1976, dir. A. German), 'Ballad of a Soldier' (1959, dir. G. Chukhrai), 'Actress' (1942, dir. L. Trauberg), 'The Quagmire' (1978, dir. G. Chukhrai), 'The Kingdom of Women' (1967, dir. A. Saltykov), 'The Cranes Are Flying' (1957, dir. M. Kalatozov) and others. The final section is devoted to Victory: on the one hand — the joy of long-awaited reunions with loved ones, and on the other — the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the sake of peace.
