Exhibition "Peter's Creations"
About exhibition
Over the past 30 years, around fifty coins have been issued dedicated to Peter I and his achievements as a great reformer. The exhibition presents images of some of these coins with descriptions. For example, an image of a gold coin with a face value of 10,000 rubles, issued in 2022 by the Saint Petersburg Mint. To emphasize the scale of the state ruled by Peter, the medallists depicted him against the backdrop of an authentic historical document — the General Map of the Russian Empire. An original design element of the coin is a raster image (long narrow stripes) of an unrolled scroll, on which, as the viewing angle changes, images of the god of commerce Mercury and the goddess of wisdom Minerva appear alternately.
