Exhibition 'Paleontology and Geology of Crimea'

The 'Paleontology' section is located in two halls and tells the story of the formation of the Crimean Peninsula during various geological periods. Visitors are presented with fossils of inhabitants of the ancient Tethys Ocean (various mollusks, corals, sea urchins and others), as well as animals that inhabited the peninsula millions and hundreds of thousands of years ago. In the display cases and on the podiums of the exhibition section 'Geology and Relief of the Peninsula' more than 300 geological samples of rocks and minerals from the museum collection are exhibited, including unique specimens. In the subsection dedicated to Crimean gemstones, agates, onyxes, amethysts, multicolored jaspers and other ornamental stones are displayed. A showcase titled 'Natural Resources of Crimea' has been highlighted, which may interest school and university audiences. The exhibition is intended for those interested in the natural monuments of Crimea, natural science disciplines, paleontology and mineralogy.
