An individual visit to the History Department of the Volsk Local History Museum involves a self-guided tour of the exhibition without guided services. During the visit, visitors will learn about the building, which has a two-century history — it is the house of the merchant Vasily Myasnikov, built in 1810. In the first-floor halls visitors will see archaeological items. The dioramas present fragments of Polovtsian everyday life with a very striking exhibit in the center — a stone baba, an idol that was used as a boundary marker. On the second floor the visitor enters a stylized old izba. Authentic items from the museum's collections tell about the development of Volsk, about the interiors of the merchant's house and the noble estate of the hero of the Patriotic War, Count V. Orlov-Denisov. The halls feature an AR audio guide where graphic images of various historical events "come to life" on visitors' phones, while a voice-over relates interesting facts.
