The scale and intensity of the events that swept over Russia in the first half of the 20th century are unprecedented and extraordinary. Two world wars, three revolutions, the breaking of long-standing foundations, mass repressions, brutal social experiments... And at the same time it was an era of great hopes, unprecedented enthusiasm, creative labor, a time of outstanding discoveries and achievements in industry, science, education, literature and the arts. What were the true causes of the revolutions in Russia? Who stood behind these cataclysms? Is it possible to uncover their mechanisms? How did it happen that the authorities and the people of a great country allowed this to occur? What are the true figures of losses and the real scale of achievements of this period? Who were, not the mythologized, but the real characters and heroes of that time? How accurate are the stereotypes of this era held by the older and younger generations? One can try to find answers to all these questions in the materials presented in the exhibition.
