Exhibition 'From the Stone Age to the Twentieth Century'
About exhibition
In the 'Nature of Crimea' section, visitors learn about the history of the formation of the Crimean Peninsula, the animals that populated it thousands and millions of years ago, view samples of minerals and rocks and other mineral resources, and take a journey through all the natural zones. The exhibits displayed in the six 'History of Crimea' halls tell guests about everything that happened on the peninsula in various eras and periods, from prehistoric human camps to the events of the Great Patriotic War. The 'Past of Taurida' halls display the most illustrative part of the archaeological collection – visitors can immerse themselves in the Stone Age and be transported to the periods of the early and late Middle Ages. The 'Taurida Governorate' exhibition covers events of the late 18th to early 20th centuries. Those interested in the history of the Civil War can see the uniforms and firearms of the White and Red armies. Pre-war Soviet Crimea is presented with leaflets, posters, and awards. The new exhibition, opened for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, uses modern technological and artistic methods: animated demonstrations of military operations in Crimea, dioramas of specific events, displays of wartime newsreel footage, and an installation composed of materials collected by search teams.
