Exhibition "From Olga to Olga"
About exhibition
The exhibition is dedicated to the image of women in different historical eras: from the time of Princess Olga, who stood at the origins of the Russian state, to Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna, the younger sister of the last Russian emperor Nicholas II. Through museum exhibits it explores themes such as the position of women in the family and society, their social status, level of education, features of appearance and everyday life. The exhibition does not attempt to cover the entire millennium of women's history, but addresses two key points — the beginning of autocratic Rus and its end. The exhibition is a journey through time — from the first steps of women's history in Ancient Rus to the tragic events of the early 20th century. It combines archaeology, history, art and personal stories, allowing viewers to see the role of women in Russian history as it developed and changed. The project was prepared by the Novgorod Museum-Reserve with the participation of the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia.
