Exhibition «From Chainmail to the Uniform»
About exhibition
The exhibition presents the history of warriors' weapons and uniforms — from medieval Rus' druzhina fighters to Red Army soldiers. Visitors can trace the impressive evolution of military affairs — from the simple but effective means of protection in Kievan Rus' to the complex technical solutions of the 20th century. The exhibition features weapons and armor of Rus' druzhina warriors, the uniforms of the streltsy and the soldiers of the Petrine era. Special attention is paid to the period of the Patriotic War of 1812: the famous hussar uniforms and weaponry are shown in detail, symbolizing the heroism and bravery of the warriors in the fight against Napoleon's army. A separate section is devoted to the Red Army of 1918–1922, displaying examples of the weapons and uniforms of that time. The items help visitors learn about the key battles of the past that strengthened the country's power and shaped its destiny.
