Exhibition 'They Are Plants. But Why?'
About exhibition
The exhibition reveals the hidden life of plants, their global role in the biosphere and their importance for all humanity, encouraging visitors to look at the familiar green world in a new way and to ask: 'They are plants. Why are they so important and remarkable?' Plants are not merely the backdrop of our lives but complex, astonishing organisms and the foundation of human civilization. This is an original perspective on the flora of Chuvashia: from microscopic processes in a leaf to the role of plants in culture, the economy and the biosphere. The exhibition features truly unique items, including the large-scale 'Map of the Distribution of Certain Plant Species across the ChASSR' (1930), the panel 'Samples of Textiles by Collective-Farm Women from the village of Yantikovo, Yantikovsky District', and the 'Pillow with Grain' presented to participants in the campaign for Kazakhstan's billion poods of grain (1958). Antique rarities are complemented by large installations, interactive objects, informational panels and multimedia technologies.
