Exhibition «Born of Fire: Clay and Metal»
About exhibition
The exhibition will present visitors with a variety of objects from the collections of the Kirov Regional Local History Museum, whose creation was based on clay and metal. These are items from different eras, of various sizes, colors and purposes: from household goods and toys to Old Believer icons. But they share a common method of creation: they all came into being through interaction with fire. Visitors will see an astonishing range of pottery: large earthenware jars (korchags) and small pots, milk jars, jugs, cups and mugs, milking bowls, teapots and kvass vessels, and much more. The second section of the exhibition is devoted to metal objects. You will be able to see interesting exhibits from the everyday life of Vyatka residents, both town and village: cast-iron pots, ladles and bowls, elegant sugar tongs and coffee pots, molds for baking kulich and gingerbreads from the famous Yakubovsky confectionery. This section also features liturgical items and vessels made of metal: chalices, tabernacles, pyxes, patens, and an altar cross.
