The nature of Yugra, like its ethnographic character, is very vivid and diverse. The exhibition gives a detailed account of our picturesque region — its flora and fauna, rivers, lakes and the boundless taiga — as well as the legends and lore that local people (the Khanty and Mansi) passed down orally. The culture and traditions of the distinctive Khanty people are presented through a range of objects related to everyday life and lifestyle. Birchbark khinty and koroba, tutchan, cherkán, children's toys and musical instruments made from traditional materials using traditional techniques can be seen in the display cases of the Center for Small Indigenous Peoples of the North exhibition.
