An exhibition dedicated to the birthday of the Confucius School of the Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University is only a part of the Oriental collection of the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. It began to take shape at the end of the 19th century in the museum of the Ural Society of Naturalists thanks to gifts from G. I. Levitsky, S. A. Poklevsky-Kozell and V. Ya. Tolmachev, who, in the course of their duties, traveled to Eastern countries. Undoubtedly, the appearance of Chinese items in the Urals was also facilitated by the fact that a trade route from Eastern countries to the European part of Russia passed through the Urals. The largest center of this trade was the Irbit Fair. Subsequently, the museum's collection was augmented through individual purchases and donations.
